On Spaceship Earth

Whenever I think about the future I can’t help but be influenced by the thinking of Orson Scott Card and his famous Ender Saga as well as Gene Roddenberry and Star Trek. Pulling from these Sci-fi worked is important to me because since the future is a fantasy waiting to be created I like to use these works as source material.

If we look at Earth as a spaceship traveling through the cosmos it becomes obvious that we are one people. One Human consciousness, collective consciousness, or Earth consciousness.

With this idea in mind, it seems that new rules are needed new laws.

The dominating philosophies of my time are Christianity whose ideas are represented in the laws that govern North America, parts of Europe and much of Africa. With the idea of the sovereignty of the individual, and executed through the forms of government which would be defined as a full or flawed democracy.

Buddhism whose ideas are represented in the laws that govern much of Asia. The idea of being part of a collective and executed through the forms of government known which would be defined as Authoritarian.

Islam, whose ideas are represented in the laws that govern the Middle East, South Asia and much of Africa. The idea of faith in a higher power and executed through the forms of government which would be defined as Authoritarian.

Hinduism whose ideas are represented in the laws that govern predominantly India. The idea of Karma, executed through the forms of government which would be defined as a flawed democracy.

The new set of laws that have to come into being across the world would need to respect and reflect a combination of these major philosophies. It’s important for localized cultures to be recognized and respected. While a unified code of ethics should govern the actions of interactions and integration an effort should not be made to exploit or change a culture.

I realize I’m not doing these religious justice by shoving them into tiny one-liners but for the sake of my time and yours. It’s been done feel free to flay me later.

What is Earths Prime Directive?

If I think in terms of Star Trek, whenever starfleet encounters a new plant they are governed by the Prime Directive which is a Non-interference directive.

How the human collective bring that concept into laws that govern the hegemonies of today? If we can discover the strands that run through the philosophies that govern the majority of the world everyone would hope that they might be able to agree on laws to govern all people. Fundamentally these major religions are all built on the same ideas of love and compassion.

In an ever more globalized world where it is a requirement to recognize the sovereignty of the individual but that everyone need to have laws that are able to hold us accountable across all of these culturally different backgrounds. The narratives that are pre-programmed into us from the moment we open our eyes and ears in the world.

When everyone gets out into the world how does everyone know how to respect each other as fellow humans and travelers? There is no Prime Directive governing our actions. It seems a bit irresponsible. The assumption that our pre-programmed modes of behavior should allow humans to connect and navigate the world is a fallacy. Should we not take the time to agree on modes of treating each other?

Everyone needs to be responsible for their own actions. Everyone should be held accountable for their actions.

I want to move away from the anonymity of the internet.

I believe everyone should be responsible for everything they say and do.

I understand that what makes the internet so great is your ability to say whatever you want through anonymity. There is a valid fear that if people know who you are then your ability to speak freely, one's freedom of speech will be taken.

There must be a balance between the “big brother world”. Where people know who you are when you speak. The trick is navigating the freedom to express unpopular ideas and the controls placed on ideas. I don’t have an answer.

The challenge of the millennial generation and gen z is that they are born into the world with the internet the ability to connect to almost everyone and every idea. However, no one has been trained or emotionally prepared to manage a community of the size available to anyone who joins the internet.

With hundreds, or thousands, or millions, or even billions of people able to react at any moment to your ideas. There is little to no accountability for the horrific things that propagate on the internet. From bullying to slavery.

My belief is that if people knew they were going to be held accountable for the things that they said we would live with a healthier internet. To move towards a new dimension where the frequency and dimension of the internet would be a higher frequency a higher dimension.

Encouraging humans to engage in a way that knowing that they will be held accountable for their words and actions.

Hope and Non-hope

How are humans going to manage the resources so that they can live happy, healthy lives. Can they successfully navigate their love languages and establish universals laws while respecting the environment they were born from?

That world is very different from the world today and that is what is so scary about it.

Change is scary because it means humans have to change and people don’t like change.
